Digital QR menu or PDF menu: which should you use?

A QR code is the doorway

A QR code is a way to open a link. It can point to a PDF or to a live menu page. The format behind the link determines whether customers pinch to zoom, browse categories or see updated prices. Test the destination, not just whether the code scans.

When a PDF is useful

A PDF can preserve a designed print layout and works well as a downloadable document. On a small phone, a dense multi column PDF may require zooming. If you replace the file at a new address, the old QR destination may stop reaching the latest menu.

When a hosted digital menu is useful

A hosted page keeps items and prices in a web destination that you can manage. Spacebar supplies a free public page and QR download. Updating the menu keeps the public link. You still need to review readability and keep the information current.

Test before printing

Open the destination on a different phone using mobile data. Read several items and prices, check the business details and scan a printed sample at its actual size. Keep strong contrast and empty space around the QR code. Printing is separate from the free menu service.

Frequently asked questions

Does a QR code itself contain the entire menu?

A Spacebar menu QR opens your public menu address. The page contains the menu.

Will editing my Spacebar menu change the QR destination?

Menu content updates keep the same public link. Test the code again if you change the address itself.
